We offer two free Open Sew Days each month—on the 1st Friday and the 3rd Tuesday—from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Space is limited, so registration opens on the 15th of the month prior.

Meet the Thread Bunny! Have you heard of a "thread bunny"? A thread bunny is simply a small scrap of fabric placed under your presser foot before you begin sewing. Starting your stitching on the thread bunny helps prevent small patchwork pieces from being pulled down into the needle plate or "chewed" by the machine as you begin sewing. Thread bunnies are also helpful when chain piecing. By starting and ending your stitching on the thread bunny, long thread tails remain attached to the scrap fabric instead of your pieced sections. This keeps your chain-pieced units neatly connected with minimal thread waste and less trimming later. It's a simple trick that can make piecing smoother and more efficient!

Hemingway Pouch Class
Create a stylish quilted zipper pouch with a sporty and unique zipper application that looks impressive but is surprisingly easy to sew! These versatile pouches make wonderful gifts and are perfect for organizing everyday items such as phones, eyeglasses, pencils, Kindles, iPads, or even laptops depending on the size you choose.
Using three coordinating fabrics and a zipper of your choice, you’ll construct a pouch with either foam stabilizer for extra protection or cotton batting for a softer feel. The techniques learned in class can easily be used to create additional pouches in a variety of sizes.
