If your group is looking for a place to meet, we invite you to contact Affinity For Quilts at 651-429-1039 to check availability. We offer two free Open Sew Days each month—on the 1st Friday and the 3rd Tuesday—from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Space is limited, so registration opens on the 15th of the month prior.
Private groups may also rent our space for a fee of $10 per day, per group. In addition, we welcome nonprofit organizations and quilting guilds to host events at our shop—just give us a call to discuss the details and make arrangements.

One easy way to make your sewing space more efficient is to tie a ribbon to a small pair of scissors and attach them to your ironing board. It’s hard to believe we’re already celebrating the fifth year of this incredible sewing adventure across the beautiful state of Minnesota! A huge thank you to everyone who has been participating and supporting the Shop Hop so far — there are still 10 more days of fun to enjoy. Hemingway Pouch Class
Create a stylish quilted zipper pouch with a sporty and unique zipper application that looks impressive but is surprisingly easy to sew! These versatile pouches make wonderful gifts and are perfect for organizing everyday items such as phones, eyeglasses, pencils, Kindles, iPads, or even laptops depending on the size you choose.
Using three coordinating fabrics and a zipper of your choice, you’ll construct a pouch with either foam stabilizer for extra protection or cotton batting for a softer feel. The techniques learned in class can easily be used to create additional pouches in a variety of sizes.
In this class, students will learn how to:
- Install the unique zipper featured in the Hemingway Pouch pattern
- Quilt the pouch layers for structure and durability
- Apply binding to finish the pouch edges

Easy Does It Bag
A ByAnnie pattern project
Another of our ByAnnie pattern classes, Easy Does It is the perfect next step for building confidence in bag making — and it’s also a great class for anyone with a little bag-making experience who wants to sharpen their skills.
In this class, you’ll combine techniques introduced in earlier ByAnnie projects to create a practical, polished bag that’s perfect for everyday use, travel, or organizing your sewing supplies. Even if you haven’t taken the previous classes, students with basic bag-making experience will feel right at home.
In this class, students will learn how to:
- Combine foundational techniques to construct a finished bag
- Sew and install sturdy, professional-looking handles

Help us celebrate the 20th Annual Quilt Minnesota Shop Hop! With 36 incredible quilt shops participating.
The pre-sale for the 2026 Quilt Minnesota fabric line is now officially open! You can place your order anytime through our website at www.affinityforquilts.com. Fabric is listed in 1-yard increments, but if you’d like a custom cut—such as 1½ yards or ¾ yard—simply leave a note with your order. You’re also welcome to call us or stop into the shop to place your order in person.
Just like in previous years, no upfront payment is required at the time of pre-order. Beginning July 20th, Diana will contact customers to arrange payment so orders can be cut and ready for pickup on July 24th, the first day of the Shop Hop.
