New Patterns, New Fabrics, New Classes, Oh My!!!

Welcome to What's Up Wednesday!
The All Minnesota Shop Hop continues through the end of May and this Sunday, May 22nd, is Shop Hop Sunday.  We will be open from 11:00am-5:00pm to support all of you hoppers out there working to complete your passport.   We will also be open Memorial Day Monday, May 30th, from 9am-5pm.  We have met so many wonderful people during this shop hop and we look forward to meeting many more.

Do you love a great retreat?  If so Affinity For Quilts will be hosting a Sleep In Your Own Bed Retreat the weekend of October 14th and 15th.  Just scroll on down to the bottom of the  Classes and Events section for all the details.

Villa Rosa inspiration is here!  That is right, the new Villa Rosa pattern cards have arrived for May.  This month we have 5 great quilts plus two runners.
Looking for a fun new bargello quilting project?   Then we have the perfect thing for you; Layered Diamonds from Pine Tree Country Quilts.  The quilt finishes at 43"x56" and kits are available for $74.99.

If you have always wanted to try a bargello quilt but did not know where to start consider taking the Layered Diamond Bargello Quilt class that will be taking place on Wednesday, July 20th.  You can find all the details in the Classes and Events section of the newsletter.
Dress up your summertime table with the newest pattern from Atkinson Designs, Posy Pops.  Diana chose to make the square version of the pattern, which measures 28-1/2" by 28-1/2" using the Loli's Garden line by Ana Sanfelippo from Cotton & Steel Fabrics.   However, if you would prefer a more traditional size table runner the pattern also has directions for a long runner measuring 12-1/2" x 41" or a short runner measuring 14-1/2" x 30-1/2".  Kits are available, which will make any of the three sized listed above, for $36.99.
There is no time like the present to begin working on those Halloween projects and we have the first of many to get you started; All Hallow's Eve by Pine Tree Country Quilts. The quilt features the All Hallow's Eve panel and coordinating fabrics from QT Fabrics.  The quilt measures 42" x 66" and kits are available for $56.99.
Textures by Sue Penn for FreeSpirit Fabrics features a rainbow of colors that can coordinate with all your quilting projects.  One of Sue's favorite things to do is create backgrounds for her paintings.  She loves the layering, brushstrokes, and color play.
Light Up My World by Alicia Dujets for Michael Milller Fabrics was inspired by whimsical things that bring light to our lives.  This glow in the dark collection features creatures ad sparks of light that you might find outside at nighttime.  When designing this collection, she took time to look up at the night sky, to listen to the animals outside around her, and to think back to all the  time she spent as  kid catching lightning bugs, the most magical creatures of them all.
Jungle Safari from Michael Miller Fabrics features all your favorite jungle friends.  There are giraffes, monkeys, lions, elephants, and crocodiles to just name a few.  This collection is perfect for any nursery or jungle-themed room.
If you are unable find an item you are looking for, talk to any Affinity For Quilts team member and we will do our best to order it for you.  We wish we could carry all your quilting needs, but items that are not basic sometimes need to be special ordered.

Per the CDC COVID is now an endemic vs a pandemic. This means that, while some people would still get infected, it wouldn't be an unbearable number with devastating consequences that overwhelms the public, hospital systems and providers.  The seasonal flu, or influenza, is an example of an endemic virus. We will continue to monitor the COVID situation; however, masks are still a great way to stop the spread of this disease.  If you have not been vaccinated please wear a mask when in the shop.  At the current time it is employee choice if they want to mask or not.

Tip of the Week!
Affinity For Quilts Tip of the Week:   Sandy D. has this tip for us this week:  Keep your small square tissue boxes when empty and use them while sewing as a garbage can for threads and small trimmings.  They don't take up much room and can be either emptied and reused or thrown out when done.  Thank you Sandy!

Just a reminder if you have a tip you would like to share with our readers just e-mail Diana at
