Tilda Village Life Is Here!!!!!

Posted by Diana Wendorf on

Welcome to What's Up Wednesday!

It’s a big week at Affinity For Quilts, with lots happening!

Tomorrow, October 1st, our Mystery Five-0 Gaelic Charm kits officially go on sale! We’ve been busy putting together some wonderful fabric combinations for our next Mega-Mystery, and we’re excited to finally begin sharing them with you.  We’ll be sending a separate email tomorrow to introduce our Gaelic Charm kits and share all the fun fabric options we’ve put together for the mystery. Please note that this email will come through the same email list as What’s Up Wednesday. If you unsubscribe from the kit email, you will also be unsubscribed from What’s Up Wednesday and will no longer receive our weekly newsletter. If Mystery Five-0 isn’t your thing, no worries—simply ignore the email.

Also available for sale is the beautiful new Village Life collection from Tilda. Filled with romantic florals, picturesque houses, and lovely coordinating prints, this collection has all the signature charm Tilda fans love.

Then on Friday, October 2nd, the Northwoods Quilt Trek begins! We’re looking forward to welcoming Quilt Trek travelers as they make their way from shop to shop. It’s always fun to see familiar faces, meet new quilters, and be part of the excitement of a Shop Hop.

We’ll have special Sunday hours for the Northwoods Quilt Trek on October 4th from 11:00 am–5:00 pm, and we’d love to see our regular customers too! It’s an extra day to stop in, shop, see what’s new, and spend a little time with us.

This Week's New Sample

As you travel the Northwoods Quilt Trek, be sure to collect the free 12" finished block pattern available at each participating shop! Our block at Affinity For Quilts is Fancy Stripes, a traditional patchwork design featuring a square set on point inside another square. The design dates back to the late 19th or early 20th century and appeared in early quilting publications, including the Ladies Art Company catalogs. We’ve given this classic block our own Northwoods touch and have kits available for just $5.00. Pick up your pattern, grab a kit, and add our Fancy Stripes block to your Northwoods Quilt Trek collection!

Bring home the sparkle of a classic Christmas with our newest kit, Coca-Cola Santa! Featuring Coca-Cola Christmas by Northcott Fabrics, this festive quilt is filled with nostalgia, warmth, and timeless holiday charm. Cheerful Santas, vintage-style Coca-Cola logos, and playful holiday details come together in a quilt that is sure to bring back fond Christmas memories.

This one was a favorite of our sample maker Mary, who loved seeing the nostalgic Coca-Cola Santa design come together as she made our shop sample. We think many of you are going to love it just as much! The finished quilt measures 54" x 75". Kits are $129.99 and quantities are limited, so be sure to pick yours up while they are available.

Tilda Village Life Arrives Tomorrow!
Tomorrow is the day! Tilda Village Life officially goes on sale October 1st, and we’re excited to finally share this beautiful collection with you. Village Life captures the charm of a close-knit countryside community with romantic florals, decorative stripes, picturesque houses, gardens, and winding paths. Generous bouquets and petite blossoms mingle with delicate leafy motifs, while the coordinating Village Life Blenders offer versatile prints and softly detailed backgrounds. Together, they create a beautifully layered collection filled with flowers, foliage, and village scenery—all with Tilda’s signature romantic charm.

Famore has put together a quick video showing a few simple maintenance tips to help keep your cutter clean, smooth, and ready for your next project. Whether you’ve had your cutter for a month or a decade, it’s worth a quick watch!

Top-A-Long Sewing Adventure

We’re excited to bring back the Affinity For Quilts Top-A-Long for another season of sewing, sharing, and quilting fun! Our last Top-A-Long was such a wonderful experience, and we’re looking forward to gathering our quilting community together once again.

If you’re new to the fun, a Top-A-Long is a collaborative sewing experience where quilters work on the same quilt top or runner each month. With the cooler months ahead, it’s the perfect excuse to spend a little more time in your sewing room while being part of a fun quilting community.

Over the next seven months, we’ll make a different quilt top or runner each month using patterns from Villa Rosa Designs. Along the way, we’ll also introduce you to some of the talented designers behind these popular patterns. We encourage you to shop your stash and finally use some of those special fabrics you’ve been saving for just the right project!

On the first Saturday of each month, we’ll gather at Affinity For Quilts for our Top-A-Long event. You’ll receive that month’s FREE pattern, enjoy show-and-tell from the previous month, and see the new sample quilt or runner revealed in the shop. And there’s a little mystery involved—you won’t know which pattern we’re making next until the meeting!

Can’t attend in person? You can still participate! We’ll mail your free pattern so you can sew along from home. Send us a photo of your completed quilt top or runner by text or email, and you’ll be included in that month’s prize drawing.

Finish your project each month and you’ll be entered to win a fun quilty prize!  Plus, quilters who participate throughout the seven-month Top-A-Long will have a chance at our grand prize: one lucky participant will have the quilt top of their choice professionally longarm quilted, courtesy of Diana!

Whether you join us at the shop or sew along from home, we hope you’ll be part of another season of sewing, sharing, stash-busting, and quilting fun at Affinity For Quilts!
