This event in Downtown White Bear Lake is consistently enjoyable, witnessing friends coming together for some shopping and perhaps a meal. It's wonderful to see everyone connecting and having a great time.   The Featherweight Club has received an overwhelmingly positive response, prompting me to introduce an additional session. To gauge interest in a second club, I've scheduled another date for the third Tuesday of March. If there's sufficient interest, we'll establish this as a monthly event.  Kindly refer to the "Classes and Events" section for comprehensive information. The All Minnesota Shop Hop Magazines arrived last week, and this week we've received the fabric. Although it's currently unboxed and on display, we're unable to sell it until the start of the Shop Hop on April 1, 2024. The website calendar will be updated with a note stating "Closed due to the weather" If the weather is bad and you are unsure if the shop is open please call before heading out.  If no one answers the phone and it is between the hours of 9am-5pm then we are most likely closed.   Sewing Machine Service Is your sewing machine in need of tune-up or repair?  If so, Jordan is on-site to assist you with all of your machine needs.  When bringing your machine in for service, please remember to include the sewing machine, foot control, power cord, standard zig-zag foot (if your machine sews a zig zag stitch), bobbin case, bobbin and thread.  You can reach Jordan directly at  612-275-3356 to speak to him directly or to schedule an appointment. He is currently offering curbside pickup and delivery for your convenience. The pattern as purchased is an intermediate pattern using advanced bag making techniques...so let's make this easier:  this class will actually instruct you on making a "hacked" version of this bag. A hack is merely a simplified version of the original pattern's design, techniques or both. In our class we will eliminate the curved exterior zipper pocket (with internal pocket and credit card slots) and round bottom construction on the original pattern and replace it with a straight exterior zipper pocket, exterior slip pocket and boxed bottom construction, while still providing space for a phone, credit cards, cash, keys and up to a 32 oz. bottle. The class time will allow you to complete a 20x15  inch mat to use at your table, under your sewing machine or as a decorative accent. Kris is an expert on making this project and will share color placement and timesaving tips for success. She will share rug samples and describe how to vary the technique to sew round and square rugs.  Enjoy watching your colorful project grow. A sewing machine with zig-zag stitch at least 5.5mm wide is required for this class.                  Class Prep: This project requires 2 ½ " strips. Students can use a jelly-roll or cut their own strips prior to class. In these classes students will: Explore new techniques, fabrics, hardware and tools Understand the "dos and don'ts" associated with bag making Discover limitless possibilities with bag patterns and come to appreciate that a pattern is merely a guideline The series runs once a month for four months, March - June, 2024, with a new bag each month. Each bag has been carefully selected to build on the knowledge and skills of the previous class while introducing new elements to add to the knowledge/skills/tools toolbox. To achieve success in this series and ensure a positive experience for all students, commitment and focus are essential for learning, creating, and obtaining valuable outcomes.
