Description: The Cathedral Window Quilt is a true showstopper! With its folded fabric design and stunning dimensional effect, it looks incredibly complex—but the construction method is much easier than it appears.
In this class, students will learn a simplified approach to creating this classic quilt while building skills that can be used in many future projects. The finished quilt is a beautiful display piece and a wonderful opportunity to explore one of quilting’s most distinctive techniques.
This class is ideal for intermediate quilters who are ready to try something different and expand their quilting skills beyond traditional piecing methods.
What You’ll Learn:
How to use an alternative quilt-as-you-go construction method
How to create and insert the fabric window sections
Folding and stitching techniques that give Cathedral Window quilts their signature look
How to build confidence working with dimensional quilt construction
Students will leave class with a strong understanding of the Cathedral Window technique and all the skills needed to complete this stunning quilt at home.
Supply List: The supply list will be provided when students register for class and is available prior to registration upon request. It includes all items needed for class.
Class Prep: Please complete all cutting and preparation steps before class. Because this is a one-day workshop, class time will be devoted entirely to learning and practicing the Cathedral Window technique. Accurate cutting and preparation are essential to the success of this project. Arriving with your fabrics pressed, cut, and ready to sew will be the best way to ensure that you can finish your quilt after class.
