This Vehicle Stops For All Quilt Shops

Posted by Diana Wendorf on

Welcome to What's Up Wednesday!

The subject line this week "this vehicle stops for all quilt shops" is so fitting with the Quilt Minnesota Shop-Hop taking place.  You still have 10 shopping days left as the shop-hop ends on August 19, 2023.  A quick reminder is you must turn your passport into a participating shop to be entered into the prize drawing.   You just have to complete 4 regions for a chance to win one of twenty $100 Gift Certificates good at any participating Shop Hop store.  If you complete the whole state one lucky winner will receive the Grand Prize of the Alaskan Cruise.

During Shop Hop we do not run our monthly giveaways due to the traffic
volume.   However, do not fear, as Freebie Monday, Double Punch Tuesday, FQ Wednesday and Sale Wall Friday will all be taking place in the same week.

  • August 21st - Freebie Monday
  • August 22nd - Double Punch Tuesday
  • August 23rd - Free FQ Wednesday
  • August 25th - Sale on Sale Wall Fabric

Even with shop-hop, we found some time to get a couple new samples completed.   I am really excited about our first sample Whirligig.  Emma Jean Jansen is a designer from Australia and when we saw her pattern Whirligig we knew it would be perfect for the Tilda Blooomsville line of fabric.  Our sample is the throw size and measures 68" x 68".  We have limited kits available for $105.99.
These caroling Gnomes make the perfect winter lap quilt measuring 45-1/2" x 64".  Baby, It's Gnomes Outside, designed by Susan Winget, uses fabric from Willmington Prints by the same name.  Limited kits are available for $65.99.
Emma Jean Jansen is a pattern designed from Australia, and since I was bring in her pattern Whirligig for our sample I found some other patterns designed by her that caught my eye.
It is Villa Rosa time!  Yes, the new patterns for August have arrived.  Which one will be your favorite?
Give a little twist to your next spooky quilt!  Tiny Frights from the Ruby Star Society has all things Halloween.  From zombie hands reaching from the grave to sweet treats, and creepy trees to the popular holiday foliage. As a bonus to this already amazing collection, parts of the fabric will glow in the dark! We have the FQ bundles along with a few select bolts in stock.

Lights Out is a fun glow in the dark collection from Robert Hoffman. There are yoga skeletons, spider webs, a collage of ghoulish creatures, and of course the black cat.

Jeweled Leaves, designed by Parvaneh Holloway for Robert Kaufman Fabrics, is a beautiful metallic collection featuring vivid leaves and vines on mottled backgrounds.

We just added a couple new bolts to our cooking section of novelty fabrics!  The Retro Aprons and Afternoon Tea are from the Michael Miller Baked with Love collection by Louise Nisbet.

If you are unable find an item you are looking for, please speak  to any member of the Affinity For Quilts team, and we will do our best to order it for you.  While we strive to carry a wide range of items to meet your quilting needs, there are certain products that may need to be special ordered.

Tip of the Week!  When cutting your fabric make sure the entire piece of fabric is on the table.  If some of it hangs over the edge of the work surface it pulls the fabric and distorts the cut.
Just a reminder if you have a tip you would like to share with our readers just e-mail Diana at
