Spring has Sprung at Affinity For Quilts!

Posted by Diana Wendorf on

Welcome to What's Up Wednesday!
Join us on Saturday for our 3rd annual Easter Egg Hunt.  This is always a fun event!   The Easter Bunny will be stopping by the shop on Friday night and dropping off some very special eggs.  Each egg will contain a tasty Easter Candy treat along with special prizes.  The prizes include Gift Certificates; 1-$50, 1-$25, and 2-$10,   discounts on fabric purchases, free Fat Quarters, and free Villa Rosa patterns.   The All Minnesota Shop Hop and Quilt Minnesota fabric lines are excluded from fabric discount purchases.  Children with parents can hunt for eggs; however, only one egg per household or party.

Do you enjoy sharing your quilting knowledge with other?  If so, we have several openings for teachers at Affinity For Quilts.  To discuss this opportunity please e-mail Diana at quilt@affinityforquilts.com.

As I pull together the newsletter tonight I am listening to the thunderstorm that is going on outside.  As the old saying goes April Showers Bring May Flowers.  Well it may not be May yet, but the flowers are blooming here at Affinity For Quilts.  Just look at all these great fabric lines that have arrived this week.
Ode To Poppies by RJR Studio features poppy fields, wild flower meadows, gathered flowers, hidden foliage, and delicate dragonflies.  The rich color pallet of this line will add a touch of elegance to any project you create.
Who is ready to Tango?  Moda Fabrics is with their newest collection Tulip Tango by Robin Pickens.   Robin reimagines the classic paisley and blends it with budding and blooming tulips creating a floral masterpiece.  The subtle butterflies and textured fabrics give this collection plenty of potential.
Flowerhouse Penelope by Debbie Beaves for Robert Kaufman Fabrics is a delightful pink and lime green garden with lots of plaid, vines, and geometric designs.
Stir up a witches' brew of projects with the festive All Hallow's Eve collection by Cheryl Baker for QT Fabrics.  This spooky and enchanting collection of prints is perfect to celebrate the season.
If you are unable find an item you are looking for, talk to any Affinity For Quilts team member and we will do our best to order it for you.  We wish we could carry all your quilting needs, but items that are not basic sometimes need to be special ordered.

COVID-19
Per the CDC COVID is now an endemic vs a pandemic. This means that, while some people would still get infected, it wouldn't be an unbearable number with devastating consequences that overwhelms the public, hospital systems and providers.  The seasonal flu, or influenza, is an example of an endemic virus. We will continue to monitor the COVID situation; however, masks are still a great way to stop the spread of this disease.  If you have not been vaccinated please wear a mask when in the shop.  At the current time it is employee choice if they want to mask or not.

Tip of the Week!
Affinity For Quilts Tip of the Week:   Painters tape can be the quilters best friend.  When making multiple cuts the same size use the painters tape on your ruler to mark the cutting line.   It easily comes off your ruler when finished and leaves no residue.
