So Many Creative Projects....

Posted by Diana Wendorf on

Welcome to What's Up Wednesday!
The subject line chosen this week for our newsletter is so true!  When I make a quilt, or anything handmade as a gift for someone else I think about the personal taste of that person and choose the perfect materials for them.  It isn't always my taste, however, I just remind myself that the finished project is not for me.  I want my gifts to be well used and loved as there is a part of me that goes into each creation.

I want to thank everyone who took the time to e-mail us following the store closure announcement early yesterday wishing us safe travels.  Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated.   Also, I want to thank you for your understanding.

The White Bear Lake Lions Club is collecting toys and non-perishable food items for families in need.  Affinity For Quilts has a bin set up for donations and we would like to encourage people to stop into the shop with a new unwrapped toy or food donation for some special savings.  New mittens, hats, and scarves are also always welcomed!
  • 10% off Fabric purchase when donating a non-perishable food item.
  • 15% off Fabric purchase when donating an unwrapped toy, mittens, hats, or scarves.
  • 20% off Fabric purchase with donation of non-perishable food item and toy mittens, hats, or scarves.
Discount also apply to pre-cuts and kits.  All Quilt Minnesota fabrics are excluded from discounts.

Do you happen to have a charm pack lying around?  Would you like the perfect table-runner pattern that goes together quickly that will showcase the materials in that charm pack?  If so them we have the perfect pattern for you!   End to End from Wilmington Prints was paired with the Happy Hearts line to create our Valentines Day table-runner.  The runner measures 18" x 59".
Winter has just started, but I am already looking for my spring time projects and these delightful little garden Gnomes are just the ticket.  Gnome & Garden was designed by Susan Winget for Wilmington Prints.  The 24" panel features these little Gnomes hard at work in their garden.  The coordinating prints features gnomes, mushrooms and flowers.
If you are unable find an item you are looking for, talk to any Affinity For Quilts team member and we will do our best to order it for you.  We wish we could carry all of the items for your quilting needs, but some things need to be special ordered.

Tip of the Week!
Affinity For Quilts Tip of the Week: Keep a large chip clip nearby when doing hand sewing.  If you get interrupted, clip the chip clip over your needle and sewing area.  That way a cat, dog, husband, or child won't accidentally get stuck with the needle if they should happen to pick it up.  It also helps you to pick up exactly where you left off when you return to your work.   My one dog is notorious for stealing my sewing.
Just a reminder if you have a tip you would like to share with our readers just e-mail Diana at quilt@affinityforquilts.com.
Classes and Events
In order to give all of our customers the opportunity to take classes we will be requesting payment at the time of registration.  If you need to cancel, we ask for notification 7 days prior to the class date so we can offer your spot to someone on our wait list and refund your registration fee.  Thanks so much for your understanding of this policy change and happy quilting everyone.

When you sign up for a class at Affinity For Quilts you will receive information about the class including any supplies needed for the class and often a few things that need to be completed before the day of the class.  Be sure to read through the supply/class prep list to ensure you have everything you need for a really wonderful class experience.  If you sign up and pay by phone, not to worry, we can email you all of the information you need for a successful class experience.

If you are interested in an event and it is full, please add your name to the wait list, if someone can not attend then we will call the first person on the wait list to see if they are available to take that spot.

The wait list is also used to see how popular an event is and if we should offer it again in the future.

You can register and pay for classes in person at 2199 4th Street, White Bear Lake Minnesota or by phone at 651-429-1039.
