Only You!

Posted by Diana Wendorf on

Welcome to What's Up Wednesday!

What an enjoyable weekend spent with an amazing group of ladies at the Affinity For Quilts Spring Retreat! A heartfelt thank you to all who participated, making it a truly memorable event.

Now, let's take a look at the latest arrivals as the new fabric continues to pour in this week.

Explore the captivating Flowerhouse: Botanical Garden collection from Robert Kaufman by Debbie Beaves. Ideal for your upcoming crafting endeavors, this fabric line showcases a delightful array of wildflowers and butterflies set against serene natural backdrops. Complementing the main designs are coordinating fabrics in the refreshing summertime tones of greens, blues, yellows, and reds. Dive into the beauty of nature with this charming collection.

We were raised with Smokey the Bear and his iconic message, "Only You can prevent forest fires." To celebrate Smokey Bear's 75th birthday, Riley Blake Designs has crafted the Only You collection. This woodsy collection showcases a blend of nostalgic and contemporary images of our forest guardian, featuring a poster collage, Smokey Bear heads, and slogan jumbles.

Prepare to be charmed by Zen Chic's enchanting Flirtation collection from Moda Fabrics. Capturing the essence of spring, this vibrant array features lively hues of aqua, chartreuse, teal, navy, warm yellow, and soft pink, all beautifully highlighted with gold accents. With everything from bold, modern abstract shapes to versatile medium-scale prints and calming bicolor coordinates, this collection has something to thrill every quilting enthusiast.

Share your finished projects!  Join the "Quilting For Affinity" Facebook group to share your work and be inspired by others. Just click here, and you will be redirected to the Facebook group.  Select 'join group' and you will be added.  It's that easy!

Tip of the Week! For quilters, pressing seams open might feel counterintuitive; however, when dealing with small block pieces, opening the seams can help minimize bulk on the backside of the unit. Use a stiletto to hold the fabric while pressing to avoid burning your fingers. If you don’t have a stiletto, don't worry—simply use the end of a pencil eraser or a chopstick instead.
Just a reminder if you have a tip you would like to share with our readers just e-mail Diana at
Classes and Events
In order to provide all of our customers with the opportunity to take classes, we require payment at the time of registration.  If you need to cancel, we kindly ask for 7-day prior notification to the class date.  This allows us to offer your spot to someone on our waitlist and refund your registration fee.  Thank you for understanding this policy and happy quilting everyone.

When you sign up for a class at Affinity For Quilts you will receive information regarding the class including any required supplies needed for the class and pre-class preparations.   Make  sure to review the supply/class prep list to ensure you have everything you need for a wonderful class experience.  If you sign up and pay by phone, don't worry, we can email you all of the necessary information for a successful class experience.

If you are interested in an event and it is full, please add your name to the waitlist.  If a spot becomes available,  we will contact the first person on the waitlist to check their availability.
The waitlist also helps us gauge the popularity of an event and determine if we should offer it again in the future.
