Free Motion Quilting Class
Description:
Ready to break free from straight lines and explore the creative side of quilting? In this hands-on workshop, students will learn how to move beyond the feed dogs and quilt fluid, expressive designs—all on a home sewing machine.
This class is designed for confident beginners and beyond who are ready to build confidence with free motion techniques. Students will practice on multiple quilt sandwiches while developing control, rhythm, and creativity through guided exercises and stitching time. You’ll also spend time drawing and sketching quilting motifs to build muscle memory before stitching.
What You’ll Learn:
- How to set up your machine for free motion quilting
- Best practices for tension, thread, and needle selection
- How to stitch common quilting motifs such as loops, spirals, and meanders
- Tips for improving control, consistency, and movement
Supply List:
The supply list will be provided when students register for class and is available prior to registration upon request. It includes all items needed for class.
Class Prep:
Most of our classes include some class prep completed at home before class. To make the most out of your experience, we appreciate if you come ready so we can jump right into quilting together.
